Nikawewa eVillage had a very slow internet connection (64kbps) through CDMA technology which was not sufficient for the work the children and youth do in the village. But recently the ISP, Sri Lanka Telekom erected a tower and now the computer center has 2Mbps speed.
On 4th September, 2007 SLT Radio System Integration team came to Nikawewa and fixed a tower within 4 days. The tower is 100 feet in height. The radio antenna is pointed to main SLT tower in Maho.
Students now write blogs, upload videos, create web sites and write e-mails.
